Who We Are

Grape Vision Ltd is a company set up by Robin Dicey in 1996 to develop and manage vineyards for people who want to own a vineyard but lack viticultural skills or time. His son James, who joined the business in 2004, has taken over daily operation of the company. Below are brief curriculum vitae of Robin and James:

After growing up on an orchard that included a vineyard in South Africa, Robin trained in winemaking and viticulture at Stellenbosch University. After running the family farm he moved to NZ in 1977 to become the first Viticulturalist for Corbans in Tolaga Bay (north of Gisborne). There he established extensive vineyards prior to moving to Katikati in the Bay of Plenty in 1979.

In Katikati he developed and managed kiwifruit orchards for absentee owners as well as setting up the first vineyards for Morton Estate. In 1992 he moved to Cromwell in Central Otago to follow his passion for grapes. He established his own vineyard and was instrumental in starting Mt Difficulty, a producer of ultra premium wines. He then started developing and managing vineyards for absentee owners and those not versed in the art of growing grapes.

James joined Robin initially as the Operations Manager, taking care of logistics, staff management while gaining on the job practical training as a viticulturalist from Robin.

James recently took over the daily running of Grape Vision and is now responsible for all viticultural and operations aspects of the business. Robin is still active in the business and acts as a senior consulting viticulturalist.
